A red serial number in prefix-and-numeral format appears at lower left alongside the year date 1994, with a rosette guilloche medallion below it. |

Transnistria's breakaway status from Moldova — never recognised by any UN member state — created a monetary system built entirely on political will. The Pridnestrovian Republican Bank began issuing its own roubles in the early 1990s following the 1992 war along the Dniester, and by 1995 the series had expanded to cover practical transaction values as the regional economy tried to stabilise under Russian-leaning governance.
The 1000-rouble denomination sits in a period of considerable inflationary pressure, before the 2000 redenomination that wiped three zeros from the currency and replaced these notes entirely.
