Reverse description The central vignette presents an intaglio rendering of the Temple of the Tooth (Sri Dalada Maligawa) in Kandy, its distinctive red-roofed octagonal relic chamber and surrounding complex rendered in fine detail against a pale guilloche background. In the foreground, a large peacock with spread plumage is executed in multicolour intaglio, occupying the lower half of the design. Pink lotus blossoms appear as a watercolour-style underprint at the upper corners, and the denomination numeral '1000' is set within an ornate oval medallion at upper left.
