| Obverse description | A small incuse rectangular countermark applied to the field of the host coin, containing the letter H approximately 3 mm in height. The countermark is boldly impressed into the billon surface, with the raised square border of the punch clearly delineated against the worn field of the underlying French Sous Marques host. The H device is rendered in a plain upright capital letter, characteristic of British colonial countermarking practice of the early nineteenth century. |
