A prominent incuse 'T' countermark has been applied to the reverse field as well, partially obscuring the underlying design. The host coin's legend, partially legible as 'ISSVR DE' and 'ET DU ROI' around the periphery, reflects its origin as a French colonial issue. The worn surface reveals the billon fabric of the host planchet beneath the countermark. |
