| Obverse description | Bearded head of Herakles facing right, enveloped in the scalp of the Nemean lion, the lion's mane rendered in bold, deeply cut parallel striations characteristic of early Cypriot coinage. The hero's facial features are summarily modeled within the constraints of this small denomination, with the lion's jaws framing the top of the composition. The style reflects the archaic Phoenician-Cypriot artistic tradition of the Kition mint under Baalmelek I. |
