| Reverse description | Within a recessed incuse square, the Great King of Persia is depicted standing to the right in a dynamic combat pose, wearing royal robes and a cidaris crown; he confronts a rearing lion standing on its hind legs to the left, which he engages in battle. The figures are rendered in a bold, deeply struck relief consistent with Achaemenid-influenced Sidonian die engraving. A single Phoenician letter appears in the field. The incuse square border is a hallmark of early Sidonian silver coinage. |
