| Obverse description | The obverse displays the laureate and armored bust of King Carlos III of Spain facing right, occupying the central field of this Spanish colonial 2 Reales host coin struck at the Mexico City Mint in 1782. A prominent incuse countermark — depicting a floral or cross-like device with stars and pellets, applied by Montserrat authorities — is stamped over the bust, validating the coin for local circulation.
