Obverse description Armored and draped bust of Grand Master Antonio Manoel de Vilhena facing right, with a long flowing wig rendered in elaborate baroque style. The effigy is shown in plate armor with lace cravat visible below. A beaded inner border frames the design. The encircling legend reads F·D·AN:MANOEL DE VILHENA, identifying the Grand Master by name and title.

Reverse description The ornate quartered arms of the Order of Malta displayed within a rectangular baroque shield, surmounted by a Grand Master's crown with elaborate foliate mantling and scrollwork to either side. The date 1723 is split across the upper field flanking the crown. The denomination T 12 appears in the lower field divided by the shield. The circular legend references the Order of Malta and the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem.
