Obverse description At center, the official emblem of the Bank of Mongolia — a soyombo symbol surmounted by a traditional ornamental cartouche — rendered in high relief against a mirror-polished field, flanked on either side by the country name in traditional Mongolian vertical script. Below the emblem, the face value '1200' appears in large numerals, with 'ТӨГРӨГ' inscribed beneath. Along the lower rim, the legend 'MONGOLIA · 0.25 OZ.999 SILVER · 1997 ·' is incused in Latin characters. The coin is struck in proof finish with a serrated border.

Reverse description A facing bust portrait of Ugedei Khan, second Great Khan of the Mongol Empire, depicted in traditional Mongolian attire with a distinctive flat-topped hat, prominent mustache, and goatee, rendered in high relief against a mirror-polished field. To the left of the portrait, a vertical inscription in traditional Mongolian script identifies the subject. The mint mark 'Mo' appears at upper right in the field. A decorative border of alternating ornamental links encircles the design. Along the lower arc, the legend 'UGEDEI KHAN 1186-1242' is inscribed in Latin characters.
