Obverse description Laureate male head facing right, rendered in a provincial Hellenistic style with bold, somewhat archaic features. The hair is depicted in loose, wavy locks gathered beneath the laurel wreath. The portrait is set centrally within the broadly circular flan, with no surrounding legend. The overall execution is characteristic of the smaller civic bronzes of Cretan poleis during the Hellenistic period.

Reverse description Stag standing facing, with prominent antlers displayed frontally above the animal's head, occupying the central field. To the left, a vertical Greek legend reading AXIO identifies the issuing city of Axos. The stag, a sacred animal associated with Artemis, is rendered in a schematic style typical of Cretan civic bronze coinage. The flan is irregular and the strike slightly off-center, as is common for hammered issues of this series.
