Obverse description Jugate busts of Aretas IV and his queen Phasaelis facing right, rendered in the schematic Nabataean style characteristic of the early first century AD. The effigies are depicted in close proximity, with the king's bust placed slightly forward of the queen's. The flan is irregularly shaped and the surfaces exhibit heavy patination consistent with extended burial. Details of facial features and regalia are largely obscured by corrosion, though the outline of the conjoined busts remains discernible within a plain field.
