The "1 Africa" unit was a short-lived pan-African currency concept promoted by the African Financial Community in the early 2000s, intended as a symbolic parallel denomination alongside the CFA franc. Chad, as a CFA zone member, issued this piece as part of a broader series distributed across several francophone African nations simultaneously, each carrying identical specifications and differing only in the issuing country named.

The project never advanced beyond these collector-oriented issues. No parallel monetary infrastructure was established, and the denomination saw no circulation.
