The Bukhara People's Soviet Republic did not actually come into existence until 1920, following the Red Army's overthrow of the Emirate of Bukhara. Notes dated 1918 in this series reflect the Islamic calendar conversion rather than the Gregorian year — 1337 AH corresponds to 1918–1919 CE, a distinction that trips up collectors and catalogers alike. The issuing authority named on the note is therefore slightly anachronistic by Western reckoning.

The tenge denominations of this emergency series circulated in a region where Russian imperial coinage had effectively collapsed and local metallic currency was equally unreliable. Pick 8 is among the higher face values in the set.
