| Obverse description | Bare-headed effigy of King Victor Emmanuel III in military uniform, facing left, with a star-decorated collar visible at the truncation. The engraver's signature GIORGI appears at the bottom of the field. The circular legend VITTORIO·EMANVELE·III·RE·D'ITALIA runs along the periphery, interrupted at the base by a small crowned heraldic device. The word PROVA is incused in the right field, identifying this piece as a pattern strike. The rim is ornamented with a continuous beaded border. |

| Additional information |
Italian Somaliland's coinage was struck in extremely limited quantities, and the 1909 issues were produced almost entirely as proofs for official presentation and archival purposes rather than circulation. The KM#Pr2 designation confirms this piece as a pattern or proof striking, meaning it was never intended to reach commerce in the territory at all. The Regia Zecca in Rome handled production, and output for the entire Somali colonial series from this period was negligible — some denominations saw fewer than a few dozen examples struck.
