| Reverse description | Central field features the interlaced cypher 'RV' (for Rama Varma) enclosed within a raised circular border, rendered in an ornate, script-like monogram style. Surrounding the central circle, the denomination is expressed in both English and Malayalam script, reading '2. CHS.' in Latin characters at the upper portion and '൨. ചക്രം' in Malayalam below, separated by decorative star ornaments and floral devices. Small rosette or floral stops punctuate the legend. The whole design is contained within a beaded outer border. |

Travancore maintained its own coinage well into the British Raj period, a privilege preserved through its status as a princely state under subsidiary alliance. Moolam Thirunal Rama Varma VI reigned from 1885 to 1924, during which Travancore's mint at Trivandrum continued issuing silver denominations in the traditional chuckram system — a unit of account with no direct British equivalent and rooted in the kingdom's pre-colonial fiscal structure.
The KM#50 series spans a production window that outlasted the maharaja himself, with striking continuing under the regency after his death in 1924.
