The Eastern Caribbean Central Bank serves eight island territories — Anguilla, Antigua and Barbuda, Dominica, Grenada, Montserrat, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines — making it one of the few currency unions outside the eurozone to maintain a genuinely fixed exchange rate, pegged to the US dollar at 2.70 EC dollars since 1976. Collector issues like this one fund the ECCB's numismatic program while carrying face value denominations that bear no practical relationship to the coin's silver content.
