Obverse description At left, an oval-framed portrait vignette of national hero Paul Bogle is flanked by the Jamaican coat of arms in red-brown at lower left and a Doctor Bird (Swallow-tailed Hummingbird) vignette at centre-right, all set against a light guilloche underprint. Denomination numerals occupy all four corners, with the series year and the Governor's facsimile signature appearing in the lower centre field.

The "Collector Series" designation marks these as notes prepared specifically for sale to collectors rather than for circulation — an unusual commercial decision for the Bank of Jamaica at the time, and one that placed them outside the normal release channels entirely. Thomas De La Rue printed the substantive circulating series for Jamaica throughout this period, so the collector issues drew on existing production infrastructure without representing a separate design commission.

Because these were never intended to pass through trade, uncirculated condition is the baseline, not an achievement. Notes showing any wear are almost certainly later handling damage.
