Additional information

Issued to mark the 90th birthday of Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother, this was one of dozens of similar commemoratives produced across Commonwealth territories in 1990 — Belize among the smaller issuers. The Queen Mother had no particular connection to Belize, and the coin's existence owes more to the Commonwealth's coordinated commemorative machinery than to any local historical tie.
