| Obverse description | Armored and draped bust of King Charles IV facing right, his hair elaborately coiffed and tied, set within a plain field. The royal portrait is rendered in the neo-classical style typical of late 18th-century Spanish colonial coinage. The encircling Latin legend reads CAROL·IV·D·G·HISP·ET IND·R·, proclaiming him King of Spain and the Indies by the grace of God.
