| Obverse description | The obverse features a central depiction of the Madara Rider, the celebrated early medieval rock relief of a mounted warrior on horseback trampling a lion beneath the horse's hooves, derived from the UNESCO-listed monument carved into a cliff in northeastern Bulgaria. The rider is shown in right-facing profile, seated atop a striding horse, with the defeated lion prostrate below. The Cyrillic legend БЪЛГАРИЯ (BULGARIA) arcs around the upper portion of the field, while СТОТИНКИ (CENTS) curves along the lower rim. The date 2026 appears to the right of the central device, and twelve five-pointed stars are distributed around the periphery in reference to the European Union, engraved by Petar Stoikov. |
