Spain's euro-cent coinage uses rotating regional themes for its maps series, but the 2004 Balearic Islands issue holds a specific geographic distinction: the archipelago sits far enough east of the Iberian Peninsula that early euro map designs — using a truncated projection — placed it awkwardly at the edge of the flan or omitted it entirely, a recurring complaint among Spanish collectors.
