Lithuania did not adopt the euro until 2015, making 2004 trial pieces like this one part of an early preparatory program conducted well before accession. The country had originally targeted euro adoption for 2007, a timeline abandoned after its inflation rate narrowly missed the Maastricht convergence criteria — by a fraction of a percentage point — in the 2006 assessment.
