| Reverse description | The common reverse design, engraved by Luc Luycx, features a large numeral '2' occupying the left portion of the nickel-brass centre, alongside a relief map of the European Union as constituted at the time of issue (first map type, without Cyprus and Malta), rendered against a cross-hatched background. The inscription EURO curves across the right-centre of the map. The engraver's initials 'LL' appear in small relief near the lower right of the map. The outer copper-nickel ring carries twelve raised stars representing the European Union, evenly spaced around the circumference. |
