| Additional information |
Dzūkija is one of Lithuania's five ethnographic regions, a designation rooted in 19th-century folklorist mapping rather than any administrative boundary. The region's distinct dialect — among the most archaic surviving forms of Lithuanian — drew serious scholarly attention during the National Revival period, when preserving linguistic identity carried explicit political weight under Tsarist rule. This coin is the fourth in Lietuvos bankas's five-part ethnographic regions series, which began in 2017 with Aukštaitija and will conclude with Žemaitija.
