| Obverse description | Left-facing draped bust of Marianne, the allegorical personification of the French Republic, wearing a winged helmet with flowing hair. In the lower field behind the bust, a stylized maritime scene featuring sailing ships is depicted in low relief. The engraver's signature L.BAZOR appears at lower left and the initials GB at lower right. The curved legend REPUBLIQUE FRANÇAISE UNION FRANÇAISE runs along the upper periphery, with the date 1948 inscribed in the lower exergue flanked by small decorative elements. |
