Obverse description Laureate and draped bust of King George III facing right, rendered in the neoclassical style by engraver Lewis Pingo. The king wears a laurel wreath and a draped mantle fastened at the shoulder, with hair styled in loose curls. The Latin legend GEORGIVS III DEI GRATIA arcs around the periphery, reading from lower left to lower right. The field is flat and unadorned, allowing the portrait to dominate the flan. The overall design closely follows the standard British colonial coinage portrait type of the early nineteenth century.
