Obverse description A standing rooster facing left occupies the central field, rendered in relief with detailed feathering on the tail and wing. The bird stands upon a small ground line near the lower field. The Jawi legend تانه ملايو (Tanah Malayu, meaning 'Land of the Malays') is inscribed in a curved arc above the rooster. The coin has a plain inner field with a beaded border along the rim.
