| Obverse description | The full arms of the Republic of Latvia are displayed prominently in the centre of the obverse, featuring a quartered shield bearing a rising sun in the upper half and two passant lions in the lower quarters. The shield is supported by a rampant lion to the dexter and a griffin to the sinister, both rendered in fine relief against a plain field. Three five-pointed stars arc above the crest, symbolising the three historical regions of Latvia. The legend LATVIJAS arcs along the upper periphery and REPUBLIKA along the lower periphery, both in bold Latin capitals. |
