Obverse description Central field bears the royal arms of Greece: a quartered shield displaying a Greek cross, set within a decorative escutcheon with a pointed base. The shield is surmounted by a large royal crown with arched bands and orb finial. The circular legend ΒΑΣΙΛΕΙΟΝ ΤΗΣ ΕΛΛΑΔΟΣ (Kingdom of Greece) runs along the upper periphery in Greek characters, flanking the crown on either side.
