| Obverse description | The full coat of arms of the Zuid Afrikaansche Republiek occupies the central field, depicting a quartered shield supported by crossed flags and surmounted by a displayed eagle; the shield quarters feature a lion rampant, a standing figure with a rifle, an anchor, and an ox wagon, representing the emblems of the Transvaal Republic.
