Reverse description The territorial coat of arms of the British Antarctic Territory occupies the central field, featuring a shield divided into quarters displaying a sailing ship, a torch, wavy lines, and a lion passant, supported on the dexter by a lion rampant and on the sinister by a Macaroni penguin standing on rocky ground. Above the shield is a crest comprising a galleon at sea, and below is a scroll bearing the motto RESEARCH AND DISCOVERY. The circular legend CENTENARY OF GRANTING OF LETTERS PATENT arcs around the upper periphery, flanked by the dates 1908 and 2008. The denomination £2 appears at the base of the field, with the Pobjoy Mint mark PM to the lower right.
