Obverse description Right-facing effigy of Queen Elizabeth II wearing the George IV State Diadem, after the portrait by Raphael David Maklouf. The truncated, draped bust is rendered in high relief against a polished proof field. The encircling legend reads 'QUEEN ELIZABETH THE SECOND' in raised Latin lettering, with the date '1989' positioned in the lower exergue. The initials 'RDM' appear below the bust truncation, attributing the design to the engraver.

Reverse description Central shield bearing a rampant lion, flanked symmetrically by eight stylised floral rosettes arranged in a circular pattern around the shield, the whole composition enclosed within a polished proof field. The design, engraved by Michael Rizzello, conveys a heraldic and decorative character commemorating the Royal Visit to Alderney. The encircling legend reads 'ALDERNEY · ROYAL VISIT · TWO POUNDS ·' in raised Latin lettering, divided around the periphery of the coin.
