| Obverse description | Jerusalem Cross occupying the central field, with the four quadrants alternately charged with two rampant lions passant and two castles, all within a tressure of arcs. The peripheral legend reads in Latin identifying the monarch Philip IV as King of the Spains by the grace of God. The design is characteristic of the macuquina (cob) coinage produced at Potosí, struck on irregularly shaped planchets, resulting in partial legends and design elements depending on flan size. |

| Reverse description | Two Pillars of Hercules rising from waves, each surmounted by a crown and bearing a banner with the motto PLUS ULTRA, flanking a central panel displaying the mintmark, assayer's initial, and face value in three lines. The field is divided by the waves motif at the base. Lettering appears both above and below in the characteristic arrangement of colonial cob coinage, with the assayer's initial and denomination repeated. The overall composition is the standard type adopted for Potosí macuquina silver following the 1652 recoinage reform. |
