| Obverse description | Laureate and draped bust of King Carlos IV facing right, rendered in the neoclassical style characteristic of late Spanish colonial coinage. The king is depicted with powdered, ribbon-tied hair and an armored, mantled shoulder. The circular legend reads CAROLUS IIII DEI GRATIA, divided on either side of the effigy, with the mint date 1794 displayed in the lower exergue beneath the bust. The portrait is boldly struck with well-defined facial features and drapery detail, all set within a finely reeded border. |
