| Obverse description | Crowned quartered shield of Castile and León occupying the central field, characteristic of the macuquina (cob) coinage struck at Potosí. The mint mark 'P' appears to the left of the shield, with the assayer's initial to the right. The date, partially visible in the lower field, is struck in the typical cob fashion with irregular flan edges. A fragmentary Latin legend runs along the periphery, though much of it is lost beyond the irregular planchet edge. |
