Reverse description The central field displays two heraldic lions passant guardant, one above the other, both facing left in the English heraldic tradition, engraved by George Kruger Gray. Flanking the lions on either side are decorative floral sprigs, consistent with Cypriot colonial heraldic design. The circular legend TWO CYPRUS SHILLINGS arcs around the upper portion of the field, while the date 1947 appears in the lower exergual area, flanked by small decorative stars. The design conveys a strong heraldic character typical of British colonial issues of the mid-twentieth century.
