| Reverse description | Central field displays a heraldic composition consisting of a large shield bearing a cross — the Danish cross — surmounting a second shield set on-point (lozenge form) charged with a lion passant, representing the arms of the city of Aarhus. Flanking the shields are two additional smaller escutcheons, each bearing heraldic charges. The date 36 (for 1536) appears prominently in the upper left of the field, accompanied by the initials C, R, and D (Christianus Rex Daniae) disposed around the central arms. A beaded inner border separates the heraldic field from the encircling Latin legend, which identifies the coin as new money of Aarhus. |
