Bangladesh Post Office notes are a genuine oddity in South Asian notaphily. The postal authority issued low-denomination notes as a workaround during severe coin shortages in the early years after independence — small change simply wasn't reaching circulation in sufficient quantities, and the Post Office had the infrastructure to distribute substitutes through its counter network nationwide.
Printed domestically by the Security Printing Press in Gazipur, these notes circulated hard and wore out fast. Survivors in any presentable condition are harder to find than their modest face value suggests.
