| Obverse description | Central field dominated by a large flaming pearl motif, rendered with radiating flames and wings, set against a plain field. The four Chinese characters of the legend 保大寳鑑 are arranged in cruciform fashion around the central device, one character in each cardinal direction. The entire design is enclosed within a beaded border. A suspension hole is pierced at the top of the coin. |

| Reverse description | Central Yin-Yang (âm dương) symbol surrounded by radiating sunburst rays occupies the middle of the field. Encircling the central device are elaborate swirling clouds and flames of distinctly stylized form, with additional pearl or orb motifs flanking the center at left and right. A dragon or mythological creature appears at the top of the field amid the clouds. The two-character inscription 二儀 is positioned in the lower portion of the field. The whole composition is enclosed within a beaded border, with a suspension hole pierced at the bottom. |
