Comments

The Banco Agrícola was established to direct credit toward Bolivia's agricultural sector — a priority in a country whose economy was otherwise dominated almost entirely by the tin and silver mining industries. This note dates from the bank's early operational years, before the 1914 banking reforms that progressively curtailed the note-issuing privileges of Bolivian private banks.

Bradbury Wilkinson's engraving work for South American agricultural and commercial banks during this period was prolific, and the firm's output for Bolivia is well documented. The plates were produced and the notes printed at their New Malden works in Surrey.
