Obverse description The Mexican national coat of arms occupies the central field, depicting a Mexican golden eagle perched on a prickly pear cactus growing from a rocky islet, with a serpent clutched in its beak and talon. The design is rendered in fine detail with the eagle's wings partially spread in a heroic posture. A wreath of oak and laurel branches frames the base of the device. The circular legend ESTADOS UNIDOS MEXICANOS runs along the upper periphery in Latin script.
