Obverse description Central field displays the Haitian coat of arms: a palm tree surmounted by a Phrygian cap, flanked by symmetrically arranged trophies of cannons, cannonballs, anchors, drums, and flags, all resting on a grassy ground. The design is enclosed within a beaded inner circle. The legend REPUBLIQUE D'HAITI arcs along the upper periphery, with two small five-pointed stars at either side of the lower field, and the denomination VINGT CENTIMES curves along the lower periphery. The entire composition is surrounded by an outer beaded border.
