| Reverse description | A draped standing figure of Liberty is depicted in full length at center, veiled and robed in classical attire, holding a tall spear or pike in her right hand and resting her left hand upon an oval shield inscribed LIBERTAD. The figure stands on a raised ground line above which the denomination 20 CENTI. is inscribed. The peripheral legend FIRME Y FELIZ POR LA UNION is arranged around the field, with a fine denticular border encircling the entire design. |

Peru's decimal coinage transition was a prolonged, politically contested process. The 1855 pattern issues from Lima were struck to evaluate proposed designs ahead of the formal decimal reform that ultimately arrived with the 1858 coinage law. Most of these trial pieces never saw approval, and surviving examples exist in tiny numbers — likely fewer than a handful struck of each type.
KM#Pn11 sits in a pattern series that remained largely uncirculated by definition, which makes condition assessment almost beside the point. The PCGS population for this number is essentially negligible.
