The Bermuda Monetary Authority was established in 1969, replacing the Bermuda Currency Board and taking on broader regulatory functions alongside note issuance. By the 1997 series, the BMA had settled into a mature relationship with De La Rue that stretched back decades — the London printer has produced Bermudan notes almost without interruption since the earliest issues of the Currency Board era.
The Brock and Wilson signature combination is specific to a narrow window of the Authority's history, which helps date unsigned specimens and distinguishes this issue from adjacent printings in the same design run.
