Additional information

Tuvalu's 1994 commemorative program leaned heavily on Olympic themes, with this javelin issue timed ahead of the Atlanta 1996 Games. The Pacific island nation — nine atolls with a combined land area under 26 square kilometers — has no Olympic javelin tradition whatsoever, making the choice of subject more about bullion market appeal than national athletic identity.
