The Bermuda Monetary Authority's millennium-era redesign introduced a large holographic strip to this note — one of the more ambitious security upgrades De La Rue was deploying for smaller island territories at the turn of the century. Bermuda had maintained a close working relationship with De La Rue for decades, and the 2000 series reflected a deliberate push toward features then considered at the high end of commercial note security.
The "large holographic" designation in the Pick reference distinguishes it from an earlier 2000-dated issue carrying a smaller foil device — two otherwise near-identical notes that catch out careless collectors regularly.
