School money — also called "play money" or "educational scrip" — was produced in large quantities throughout the twentieth century for classroom arithmetic instruction. Without a specific issuing country, school system, or printer attached to this piece, there is little to say with confidence beyond the obvious. The 153 × 67 mm format places it broadly in the range of North American educational material, but that alone is not a reliable attribution.

Condition on surviving examples is typically poor — these were handled by children.
