| Obverse description | Left-facing draped bust of Pope Pius XII occupying the majority of the field, depicted wearing papal vestments with the papal coat of arms rendered in relief at the truncation below the portrait. The effigy is modelled in a restrained, neoclassical style with fine linear detail in the hair and clerical collar. A circular Latin legend reads PIUS XII PONTIFEX MAXIMUS around the upper periphery, with the birth and death years 1876 and 1958 flanking the portrait along the lower rim. |

| Reverse description | Central design features a large ornate cross pattée with eight radiating arms, each terminating in stylised floral and foliate motifs, occupying nearly the full field. At the centre of the cross, within a raised cartouche, the denomination XX DUCAT is inscribed. The fineness mark 980 appears at the base of the cross below the central cartouche. The surrounding legend, divided into two arcs, reads AVORUM NON MORITURA VIRTUS along the upper periphery and AUREUS MAGNUS along the lower periphery, both in capital Latin letters. |
