| Reverse description | The full arms of Monaco occupy the central field, depicting the quartered lozenge shield in the Grimaldi style, supported by two armored figures — a monk on the left and a knight on the right — each holding the drapery of an ermine-lined mantle that spreads behind the shield. A princely crown surmounts the composition, and a ribbon at the base of the shield bears the motto DEO JUVANTE. The denomination VINGT FRANCS is arranged in two arcs on either side of the upper field, with the date 1878 prominently displayed in the lower exergue. A floral ornament and an anchor mark appear in the lower field flanking the shield, serving as die-differentiating privy marks. The whole is enclosed within a beaded rim. |
