Obverse description Diademed effigy of Queen Margrethe II facing right, wearing a crown and a small earring, rendered in a simplified contemporary style engraved by Lis Nogel. The circular legend reads MARGRETHE II flanked by a heart motif to the left and DANMARKS DRONNING continuing to the right along the upper rim. The mint year appears in the lower field beneath the portrait.

Reverse description The Royal Coat of Arms of Denmark occupies the central field, depicting three crowned blue lions passant accompanied by nine red hearts arranged on a golden shield, surmounted by the Danish Royal Crown rendered in fine detail with a cross at its apex and pearl-bordered arches. The denomination legend 20 KRONER is inscribed along the lower rim in bold capital letters beneath the shield.
